For generations, the kitchen at Dom Polski has been much more than a place where meals are prepared. It is where volunteers make pierogi, where Friday Dinners come together, and where preparations begin for Polish Festival Seattle, Spring and Fall Bazaars, and countless cultural and community events.
It is also part of the place where our community gathers to celebrate birthdays and weddings, honor loved ones at memorials, and simply spend time together. Preparing and sharing traditional Polish food is one of the ways we preserve our heritage, connect generations, and create a little piece of Poland here in Seattle.
Now our kitchen needs a little help from our community.
During a recent City of Seattle Environmental Compliance inspection, Dom Polski was classified as Non-Compliant in the Grease Interceptor category. While no immediate corrective action was issued, we have decided to address the issue proactively, while we have the opportunity to plan the work without disrupting our kitchen and community events.
The project will include the professional installation of a commercial grease interceptor for our 3-compartment kitchen sink, necessary modifications to the existing plumbing and venting, required permits and inspections, and related project costs.
Our fundraising goal is $6,000.
Rather than waiting until corrective work may be required on a much shorter timeline, we would like to complete the project now and keep our kitchen safe, functional, compliant, and ready for everything that happens at Dom Polski throughout the year.
